Intended Parent Consultation
Many IVF clinics, agencies, and donor banks require intended parents to participate in a psychological consultation prior to proceeding with egg donation, sperm donation, or gestational surrogacy. While this step can feel like one more thing on an already long process, it is designed to provide education, preparation, and support — not to evaluate your fitness as a parent.
This consultation is not an interrogation or a judgment. It is a structured, supportive conversation focused on helping intended parents think through the emotional and relational aspects of third-party reproduction.
What the Consultation Covers
During the consultation, we may explore topics such as:
-
Expectations related to third-party reproduction
-
Disclosure decisions with family, friends, and future children
-
Coping with uncertainty, delays, or unsuccessful cycles
-
Emotional considerations related to embryos, genetic connection, and future decision-making
-
Boundaries and expectations in relationships with donors or gestational carriers
These conversations are often most helpful when guided by someone who understands both the clinical process and the lived emotional experience of fertility treatment.
My Role
I have over a decade of experience conducting intended parent consultations and am familiar with the medical, legal, and emotional landscape of third-party reproduction. You do not need to explain fertility terminology or processes — we can focus directly on what matters most for your specific situation.
Consultations are conducted in accordance with current American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) guidelines. A written report is provided and can be sent directly to your IVF clinic, agency, or donor bank, typically by the next business day.
Next Step
If you are preparing for an intended parent consultation and would like to learn more about the process or determine whether this service is a fit, you are welcome to reach out via email or the contact form.
